Carbon Market Solutions offers a wide range of advisory and project development services related to project owners. The services offered include:

International Carbon Market Overview

CMS can undertake a carbon market overview for New Zealand companies that wish to understand in more detail the risks and opportunities related to buying and selling carbon credits internationally. The purpose of the carbon market overview is to inform and make available information which will assist companies in developing their carbon strategy and making an informed decision which will enable them to maximize the value from their potential carbon assets.

New Zealand Climate Change Policy Overview

New Zealand Government Climate Change policy has a major impact on the carbon strategy that a company chooses to follow. The decision to pursue a Domestic Emissions Trading scheme in New Zealand will present a whole range of new challenges and opportunities. CMS can assist companies in understanding how emerging New Zealand climate change policy will impact on their business and in providing information which will assist in determining the most appropriate strategy to undertake. The policy overview is linked into an assessment of the business risks and opportunities that your company will face as a result of the policy environment.

CDM Project Development

We have experience in all steps of the CDM Project Cycle including CDM feasibility assessment, preparation of project idea note, preparation of project design document, project validation, host country approval, CDM Executive Board approval and negotiating and structuring an Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA). New Zealand and Australian companies developing renewable energy, energy-efficiency, or fuel switching projects in other countries may wish to capture additional revenue streams from Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). CMS can assist with CDM project development. We have experience in all steps of the CDM project cycle.

JI Project Development

CMS can assist New Zealand companies with projects in New Zealand which have been awarded AAUs/ERUs under the Projects to Reduce Emissions (PRE) mechanism with developing the projects. We have experience in all steps of the JI project cycle including preparation of Project Idea Note (PIN), preparation of Project Design Document (PDD), Validation, New Zealand Host Country approval, Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA) negotiation, Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee approval and project verification. CMS has specific experience in working with the following types of emission reduction projects:

  • Landfill gas projects

CMS can also assist with developing voluntary market emission reduction projects which generate verified emission reductions (VERs) following JI procedures but where host country approval is not required.
