Wayne King

Wayne King

Wayne has over 14 years international experience on climate issues, having been closely involved in the international negotiations on the Climate Convention and Kyoto Protocol, in the areas of financial mechanism, capacity building and clean development mechanism. Wayne has also managed a 4 year US$5 million GEF Pacific regional climate program based in Samoa. From 2002 - 2004, Wayne was consulting with the Asian Development Bank, Manila on a 2 year, US$1 million climate mainstreaming programme within the Bank, at their strategy, programming, and project levels. Wayne has a background in Forestry and worked previously as a forest ranger within the New Zealand government. Wayne is focused on business development in the New Zealand carbon market and assisting landowners with monetizing carbon credits under the Permanent Forest Sinks Initiative in the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme and in the voluntary carbon markets.

Wayne joined CMS in 2004. He is based in Hamilton, New Zealand.


John O'Brien

John O'Brien

John has a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University (1994) specializing in environmental economics. John is an expert in carbon finance and has seventeen years experience working globally with climate change and energy issues both with international institutions (in New York and Slovakia) and also in the private sector in carbon finance and investment banking based in London, and Moscow.

John has worked on origination and transaction structuring related to Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) projects in over 30 countries on every continent. In addition, John worked with other multi-lateral institutions such as the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate (UNFCCC) Secretariat and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). John established CMS in late 2003 with the objective of assisting New Zealand companies to monetize their carbon credits in the international carbon market.

John founded CMS in August 2003 and the company has been in business continually since this time having assisted with over NZD 100 million dollars in carbon credits.

Dan O'Brien

Dan O'Brien

Director

Dan has a background in analytical technology and venture capital and supports CMS in looking at new investment opportunities. Dan has led large analytical technology investments at industry leaders Cisco Systems and Oracle Corporation. He has also valued, prospected and executed venture capital transactions in the UK for top tier secondary venture capitalist Shackleton Ventures. Dan has lived in Paris, London, and New York but loves Wellington, New Zealand where he is based. Dan holds a BSc in Computer Science and an MBA from INSEAD.
